Period: Second half of the 18th century
SOLD Lombard Louis XVI cabinet with dimensions of 76 x 56 x 40 cm, inlaid in walnut, rosewood, and bois de rose. Despite its extreme simplicity due to the flat and rectangular top, front, and sides, the Louis XVI bedside table owes its elegance to the beautiful proportions, the slender truncated pyramidal legs, and the harmonious division of the inlaid panels, all crafted with great refinement and pictorial sense. The front, flanked by two inlaid foliage decorations on a black background, has no drawer and is constructed only with a door that features a male figure "painted" in various woods of different shades. The decorative layout is repeated on the horizontal top, while the sides stand out with truly refined, elegant, and colorful wood patterns. The truncated pyramid legs are decorated with palmettes on a dark background and are connected to the cabinet by a die-shaped inlay with a rosette inside and flanked on two sides by two small curls. The paintings and art objects published here are my exclusive property and are therefore always available to be viewed in person, by appointment, at my exhibition locations in Sanremo and Brescia. The work, like all our objects, is sold with a FIMA photographic certificate of authenticity and lawful origin; this document identifies the object, adding value to the item. We personally handle and organize the packaging and shipping of works of art with insurance worldwide. Dr. Riccardo Moneghini Art Historian
