Venetian 4-Drawer Chest of Drawers, 17th Century - SOLD
Period: 17th century
Measures H x L x P
SOLD 17th century Venetian chest of drawers. Dimensions: 100 x 150 x 60 cm. The deeply carved details that run along the side pilasters and frame this 17th-century four-drawer chest provide an important and intensely chiaroscuro decorative element within the sobriety of this piece of furniture. The solid walnut piece rests on bracket feet, each connected to the strongly molded base by two S-shaped volutes. The four large drawers emphasize their subdivision through a molded frame that encloses them. Within this, two slightly rounded panels protrude at the ends with an elegant inlay in the central part; the handles are attached to the two elongated panels, while the keyhole is in the central one. The upper surface protrudes over the chest and has a delicate and very elegant floral decoration on all four corners. Noteworthy is the inlay on both sides. The work, like all our objects, is sold with a FIMA photographic certificate of authenticity and lawful origin; this document identifies the object, adding value to the item. We personally handle and organize the packaging and shipping of the works of art with insurance all over the world. Dr. Riccardo Moneghini Art Historian
